How to Become a Volunteer

Compassion, Commitment, and Time

To become a CASA volunteer you must have a strong sense of responsibility, be able to communicate well, and have time to commit to a child.  If you have these qualities, then you might be able to become a part of the CASA program

CASA volunteers are everyday people without any special experience.  Volunteers have varied professional and educational backgrounds, and differing ethnicities.  They are accepted on the basis of their level of objectivity, competence and commitment.

When you are accepted into the CASA program, you go through a training process in which you learn about court procedures, social services, juvenile court systems and the unique needs of abused and neglected children.  After the training, CASA volunteers are asked to make a commitment of one year to the program and about 10-15 hours a month.
